MVP 2015 IoT/Windows Embedded

MVP LogoI am very happy to announce that I have been awarded Microsoft IoT/Windows Embedded MVP for the 5th time!  Thank you to everyone (Microsoft and non-Microsoft people) who made this possible again!

The Microsoft MVP Program is a worldwide award and recognition program that strives to identify amazing individuals in technical communities around the globe who share a passion for technology and the spirit of community. To become an MVP (Most Valuable Professional) candidates are nominated by Microsoft or other community members: they are rigorously evaluated for their technical expertise, community leadership and voluntary community contributions for the previous year. These individuals are chosen because they are exemplary community leaders who voluntarily share their passion and real-world knowledge of Microsoft products with others.

Congratulations to the other Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals world-wide, nominated and renewed. Especially, I want to congratulate with my colleague Beppe Platania who has been awarded again IoT/Windows Embedded MVP!

New Pluralsight course about Virtual Reality available!

I'm happy to announce that my new Pluralsight/Digital Tutors course is finally available: Getting Started with Virtual Reality in Unity.

DT_VR_CourseSince last year my daily work consisted of analyzing and developing Virtual Reality projects with Oculus Rift for Windows and Samsung Gear VR for Android using Unity 3D. Used to IoT/Windows Embedded programming and its development tools, I had a big paradigm shift and learning curve, which gave me the idea to produce this getting started course, for people like me who want to start from scratch understanding Virtual Reality and developing immersive applications.

In this course, you will learn the fundamentals for building virtual reality games and applications targeted to the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR You will see what the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR are, how they work and then you'll see how easy it easy to start creating immersive experiences for both desktop and smartphones. You will also learn where to start when implementing VR natural user interfaces by leveraging a Leap Motion device for hands and fingers tracking.  By the end of this training, you'll have a firm grasp on the tools, techniques and workflows needed to create your own VR games and apps...

I'm willing to know what you think about it and, for any question, feel free to contact me!

New Pluralsight course about Augmented Reality on Android

I'm very happy to announce that my third Pluralsight course has been published early today: Getting Started with Augmented Reality on Android devices.

Pluralsight AR courseLast year, most of my daily work consisted of analyzing and developing a number of Augmented Reality projects on the Android platform, using Google Glass and Android Wear devices. Used to Windows Phone and its development environment and tools, I had a big paradigm shift and learning curve, which gave me the idea to create this getting started course, for people like me who want to start from scratch developing Augmented Reality applications.

This course introduces Android developers to Augmented Reality concepts and applications. AR apps are already available on smartphones and tablets, but in the next months and years, with the wide adoption of smart-glasses, they will redefine our lives, by blending the physical world with virtual worlds and shifting applications from our device screens directly to our eyes. Starting from the theory, hands-on examples will enable students to quickly develop and deploy amazing Augmented Reality applications, either using low-level algorithms or leveraging high-quality AR frameworks.

I'm willing to know what you think about it and, for any question, feel free to contact me!
